At New Opportunities for Women, Inc. in Baltimore, Maryland, we strive to promote change by providing a range of social services for the community. Our organization provides a dynamic work environment where deadlines are met and goals are not only achieved but also exceeded. We are proud of the exciting initiatives we do to improve the lives of others.

In addition to our on-site services, we have partnered with several organizations to provide help provide empowering and consistent support that will help you make radical changes that will lead to a longer life through health care and skills that lead to fulfilling your dreams.  These radical changes will greatly improve your life and have an impact on the lives of your family, friends, and anyone who comes in contact with you.

 

Navigational Health and Quality of Life Care

We provide free navigational health care using a triage system for services such as blood pressure monitoring, diabetes nutrition, and weight loss through exercise. Our organization also provides referrals and follow-up consultations.

 

Substance Abuse

We will help you identify the personalized support or treatment you need to end substance abuse.

 

Homeless Assistance

We work with partners to help you find shelter and other necessary services.

 

GED Test Preparation and Life Coaching

Our staff will assist you in preparation for GED tests. They will also help you obtain skills and habits that contribute to equity and success at home, work, and in the community.

 

Employment Readiness and Placement Referrals

We work with our partner organizations to help you develop employability skills and habits for job placement and referrals.

 

HIV and STI On-Site Testing, Counseling, and Referral (CTR)

Our organization promotes early detection of HIV and STI (Sexually Transmitted Infections) through testing. We ensure that all clients have access to information regarding transmission, prevention, and a clear understanding of their test results.

Our program helps you identify specific behaviors that may put you at risk of acquiring or transmitting HIV. We have highly qualified nurses and counselors who provide prevention counseling and group sessions.

 

General and Special Education Advocacy and Family Support

Our trained general and special educators support and advocate for students, families, and schools. They address educational and behavioral concerns of students during their formative and adolescent years. We also have competent educators and specialists who provide individual and group conversations. They may be asked to participate in parent-teacher conferences upon request.

 

LGBT Support and Counseling

We do not support separating members of our LGBTQ community, but we realize this community often has specific needs.  We provide services onsite, through partnering organizations, and make referrals for mental health individualized and group counseling, homeless assistance and legal services in addition to other services provided upon request.

Through our partnerships with several organizations, we provide encouraging and consistent supports that enable you to live a longer life.
